Sing our Hello Song!

Today we are going to hear a story about a young girl whose life was changed by going to a concert!
She heard some beautiful music and got inspired.
What inspires you?
Listen to the story to see how just one thing happening to you, or around you, can have an effect on what happens next to you, your family, or friends...Just............Because!

I hope you enjoyed the book, " Because" by Mo Willems.
The little girl was inspired by the beautiful music that she heard the night she went to the concert and it shaped the rest of her life!  Music can inspire you for sure!  Learn how Mo Willems was inspired to write the story, click on the next link!

This is an orchestra story!  It is a little long, so you might want to view it
in two parts.  Or get into a comfy position and enjoy it!
It's about a mouse, that goes to hear an Orchestra play, just like the little girl
in the story by Mo Williams! See if you recognize some of the instruments!
Try to memorize their sounds. Which one do you like best? Why?

Now that you are inspired, Let's get up and dance!
Add an action for the words and have fun !

In the story, "Because" You heard the puppets talk about Symphonic Music. Symphonic music is music that is played by the orchestra.  Sometimes Symphonic music tells a story and sometimes the music inspires you to come up with your own ideas of what the story should be about.  In this next clip, you will see two famous artists working together to create music, art, and even dance.
They are fabulous, Mo Willems and Yo-Yo Ma.

You probably already know Mo Willems from his famous Piggy and Pigeon books!
Yo-yo Ma is a world-renown cellist, he is one of the best in the world!  These two greats team up to create music and art, by inspiring each other!

You might be inspired too!  You can watch this in parts. You could watch the first two parts, and then on another day, watch the second two. Or you could watch one per day!  Join in the fun by using a piece of paper and anything you like to draw with.

Activity:
Yo-yo Ma put together a playlist of music to get inspired by. You can find it at the link below.  Your job is to create your own art piece.  You could draw, dance, play the beat or rhythm with the music, or create a story. You don't have to write the story, you could voice record the story.
If you can think of another way to create something that reflects the music, go for it.
 Let your imagination guide you!

How to create your own Art piece:
Listen to the music and make your creation reflect the music.  Think about how the music feels and sounds to you. What is the mood? What color is the music?   Is the tempo fast/slow/medium? Is the texture smooth, bumpy, thick or thin? Are the sounds high or low?  What's the style?  How can you make your creation show the music?!
When done, snap a pic of your artwork, or make a video or your dance or story,  and email me if you'd like! I'd like to see what you came up with and tell me which symphonic piece you listened to!

Let's Dance!
Time to get up and move and groove!  Grab someone who lives in your house and learn the choreography or just have fun making up your own.  Move to the beat and sing along! Because
"Everything better when you are dancing" and you have music in your heart!
