The Legend of Polar Mountain
Script

Overture:

Scene;  Village of Uelene on a frosty winter day.  Villagers gather around the village campfire to get ready for the village winter festival.  Old Yupik comes center stage and begins :

Old Yupik(Sam):  (speaking to the Audience)  Ah!  Just look at all of you sitting there!  You look so very warm and even a little crowded, if I do say so myself.  Never-the-less, there you are and here I am!

My Name is Yupik.... Old Yupik,.... I am the village elder and storyteller.  

Old Yuaria(Emma V):  And I am Yuraria, Old Yupik's wife.  I am the one who has been listening to those stories for years and years..( over exaggerated, bored tone, rolling her eyes)...  none the less, we welcome you to our village of Uelene, which is at the base of Polar Mountain.  We are glad to have you here for a visit.  

Villager 1 ( Furquan):  Yes, welcome to our village of Uelene!  Our people are called Inuit...

Villager 2 (Andrew I):  Which in our language means "Real People."  

Villager 3 (Ryan C)   We have lived here for generations!   Hunting caribou and spearing fish, building igloos and trying to stay warm.  

Old Yuaria:   During Autumn in Uelene, as in all of the far, frozen North, the sun sets behind Polar Mountain and stays away until late in the spring.

Villager 4 (Nina):  Yes, and during the winter months it is dark around the clock!  

All Villagers:  VERY DARK!!!  

Old Yupik:  You may be asking yourself,  how do we stand it?  Well the answer is simple...

(everyone is silent and looking around at each other confused)

Old Yupik:  I said, (annoyed)  the answer is simple.....

(still, no response and villagers seem even more confused)

Old Yupik:  (forcefully)  The answer is simple!!! 

All villagers:  (grumble and groan, shrug shoulders, like confused..mumble huh?  We don't know..ad lib)

Old Yuaria:  (steps in, and very confidently speaks to everyone)  WE TELL STORIES!!

All villagers:  (oh yeah expression and all agree with head nods)  Oh yeah, we tell stories!

Villager 5( Meghan K. ):  We pass these stories down from generation to generation,  so that our history and our lore is never forgotten.  It will live on forever.   

Old Yupik:  Well, would you like to hear a story?

All :  Oh yes, Old Yupik!  Please tell us a story!

Old Yuaria:  Oh dear, not again!

Old Yupik: I believe I will!

Song #1:  Once On A Wintertime

(Yupik)  Let me tell you a story, I swear that it's true!  It's old to me but it's new to you!  It happened to all of us so long ago, once upon a, once on a winter time.

Dialogue #1 (Underscored )

Old Yupik:  The story takes place right here in our village of Uelene, in the shadow of Polar Mountain and involves all of the important people of our clan.  For instance, our tribal leaders, Yaka and Suka.

Yaka and Suka:  Yes, We are the most important people in our village, and if you don't believe us, you can go ahead and ask us!

Old Yupik:   (cutting them off)  See what I mean?....  And there are others, of course, The fishermen, the hunters, the preachers and teachers, the fathers and sons, the mothers and daughters... all a part of the amazing legend of our very own Polar Mountain.  

Sing

 (All): Let us tell you a story: we swear that it's true!  It's old to us but it's new to you.  It happened to all of us so long ago, once upon a , once on a winter time!

Dialogue #2  (Underscored)

Old Yuaria:  The main characters in this story is a little Inuit girl from our village named Galena.

All:  (sigh because she is cute and adorable)  Aww!

Old Yuraria:  And her twin brothers, Pakak and Keyush.

Galena:  (running across the stage followed by her brothers)  Hurry up boys,  or we are going to miss the blanket toss!

Pakak and Keyush:  We're coming, we're  coming!!!!!  ( they dash across the stage, racing to follow her.   they stumbles and falls, loud crash is heard, all cast winces)

Old Yupik and Old Yuraria:  Ah, such a big adventure for such a young pair!

Sing:    So we'll tell you this fable of so long ago, it happened away in a land full of snow!  Though it may seem like magic, we promise it's so, once upon a, once on a wintertime!  

Dialogue #3 (Underscored)

Yaka:  (as though he is giving a speech)  In our village of Uelene, we have 49 words that all mean "snow"  

Suka:  Thats right, you heard him, 49 different words for snow!

Villager #6 (Sophia W.):  There's "siku", whcih means " sea ice"

villager #7 (Hannah T.):  There's "sikursuirt"  which means "packed snow"

Villager #8 (Colin W.):  Also,  there is " Sikuluk"  which means "melting snow"

Villager 1-8:  And "Pukak, and "masaraaq and sinaag and....

Yupik:  (cutting them off) Well, you get the picture... the little girl and her brother, ice and snow from earth to sky 

Old Yuraria:  and a night so dark it seemed to never end.  This is where our magical, marvelous tale begins

Old Yupik and Old Yuraria:  And it is all absolutely true!!!

All:  Or so we're told!

Sing:

So we tell you this fable of so long ago.  It happened away in a land full of snow , though it may seem like magic I tell you it's so, once upon a, once on a winter, once upon a, once on a winter, once upon a, once on a winter time.  Once on a wintertime.  

(At the end of the song, Yupik, Yuraria, Yaka, Saku and the villagers gather around the fire to hear the story, they all listen intently) 

Yupik:  Our story begins at our annual Winter Festival.

Yaka:  Yes!  Our Winter Festival was my idea to boost the spirits of all the villagers in the bleak winter months!

 Sukra:  Wait, a minute, I thought that was MY Idea! (looks confused)

Yaka:  (Very confidently)  Nope it was mine,  (rolling eyes)  all mine!!
Suka:  No,  no,  I am sure it was mine! (They argue with each other and the story continues)

Villager 9 (Evan A.):  None the less, it was a great idea!  The whole town comes out to celebrate and have fun in the snow!

Villager 10( Mathew C.):  Everyone looked forward to enjoying the special food and fun activities!

Villager 11 (Mathew G.):  We would build snow men and take dog sled rides across the ice!

Villager 12(Adien K):  We have a blanket toss !  This is when we all would grab a blanket around all of the edges and toss the children high in the air like they are on a trampoline!

Villager 13(Lucas M.):  At the Winter Festival, we celebrate the snow!  Yes, In the snow, we play!

Villager 14 ( Meldin):  And of course, in the snow we sing!!!!

Villager 15 (Jason S.):  We even DANCE in the snow!!!  

Villagers 10 - 15: Come on everyone, let's go!

Song #2   Dancing in the Snow

We're dancing in the snow, sliding to and fro.  This is just our fav'rite time of year.  Our cheeks are all a glow, as O'r the ground we go.  We're so glad that winter time is here.  Ev'ry body come along, bring a friend or two.  Sing a very merry song, and we'll dance with you.  

Winter has begun, we're having so much fun!  Ev'ryday's a frozen holiday!   Summer time is gone; go put your mittens on.  We're so glad when winter comes our way!  We all smile very wide; nobody is cross.  Get yourself a piece of hide; have a blanket toss.  

(A small group yell " blanket toss") -- (villagers do blanket toss as others act out various winter festival activities )  

( at measure 34:  villager yells:  " snowball fight"  then a snowball fight breaks out)

measure 42, sing again:

(Measure 42)  We're dancing in the snow, sliding to and fro.  This is just our fav'rite time of year.  Our cheeks are all aglow, as over the found we go.  We're so glad that winter time is here!  We love to play our in the snow every winter day.  Sliding down the giant hill, dance the day a way!  

(Measure 52) Winter has begun we're having so much fun !  Our cheeks are all a glow!  Its party time you know! We are dancing in the snow!     WHEE! 

Galena:  Wow, (looking around) isn't this great!  There are so many fun things to do!!!

Pakak and Keyush:  Now come on, We want to go on the toboggan ride (tugging on her arm, begging) Please....!

Galena:  Alright, alright, you go get your friends and I'll get mine, then I'll meet you over there in about 5 mins.

Pakak and Keyush: DEAL! 

(They both separate and begin to talk to others and gather their friends, then Pakak and Keyush and their friends go off stage.... Galena and her friends do not notice...they are just having fun)

Villager 16 (Jonah B. ):  Galena and her brothers, were having so much fun at the Winter Festival, enjoying all of the festivities!

Yaka:  (indignant) Well of course they were having fun, it was all my idea!

Suka:  (very upset)  No it wasn't!  For the last time, it was MY idea.....(they continue arguing on the side, old Yupik tries to calm them down)  

Villager 17 (Ryan B.):  Galena and her friends lost track of time, and so she and her friends didn't meet Pakak and Keyush and their friends at the toboggan hill. (with disgust) She forgot.

All Cast:  (gasp loudly and look shocked)

Villager 18 (Paul B.):  All of a sudden, the festival was over, and Pakak and Keyush and their friends were no where to be found.

Villager 18B (Brody L.): Galena and her  friends started frantically calling and looking for them, but they didn't know which way to go first! 

(Galena enters with her friends and they are calling and looking for Pakak and Keyush and his friends)  

Galena: (searching around the stage and calling)  Pakak,  Keyush!  Oh  boys! Where are you?  (looking at  the villagers)  Have any of you seen my little brothers and their friends? 

Lost girl 1:  We have been looking everywhere, but we can't find them anywhere!

Galena:  We got so wrapped up in the winter festival that we lost track of time! ( looking disappointed in herself)  And I was suppose to be taking care of him because my Mom and Dad are away!  ( begins to panic)  

Lost girl 2:  (Looking around at the cast and the audience)  Please, can anyone help us?  Didn't anybody see them?

Villager 18 B(Max):  Nope Sorry kids, haven't seen them.

Villager 19 (Ben K):   Wait, I think I saw them wander out towards Polar Mountain!  

All:  (let out another loud gasp of disbelief)

Villager 20 (Henry W.):  Yes, yes, that's right,  I saw them heading toward the mountain too!  ......I think?

Villager 20B( Yeva): Oh no, not Polar Mountain, NOBODY goes over Polar Mountain.  

Galena:  Oh dear!  I hope they didn't go too far you never know what they might meet up with out there!

All:  BRRRRRR!!!!

Villager 20C (Cameron C.).  Yeah, there are a lot of weird stories what happens over Polar Mountain!

Villager 20D: (Ian B.)  Yes, just last month I read a story on line about a group of people who hiked to the other side of Polar mountain, and despite search teams on foot and by air, they were never heard from again.  

Lost girl 3: Oh dear, come on girls, we better go and find them.

Lost girl 1&2:  Yes, lets hurry, come on lets go!!!

(Galena and her friends head off to find her brothers and their friends)

Suka:   In our village, a lesson must be learned very early in life. As wonderful as the ice and snow can be for enjoying... 

Villager 21(Jacob P.):  (interrupts Old Yupik)  By building snowmen, skiing and ice skating...even Snowboarding and sledding!

Villager 22 (Mekael): Don't forget having snowball fights and making igloos!

Suka:  Yes, but It can also be VERY DANGEROUS!

All:  VERY DANGEROUS!!!

Yaka:  Come on everybody! Dark clouds are rolling in. (reconsidering) Come to think of it it's always dark around this time of year. 

Suka:  We better get home and under some warm blankets.  Then we all should stay put because a storm is a-comin!

Villager 23(Aubrianna F.):  And thats just what everyone did, they went home, ate dinner and curled up near a fire under a warm blanket and waited for the storm.

(All exit off of one side of the stage, as Galena, Pakak, Keyush and their friends enter the opposite side of the stage, Galena is scolding her brothers)

Galena:  Boys, how many times have I told you not to wander off by yourselves, now we're at least 2 miles from home and it looks like a big storm is coming.

Pakak:  I know, I'm sorry, the Toboggan hill was just too small,
Keyush:  And we wanted to go to the BIG Hill. 

Lost Girl 1( Emma Jo):  (mad)  Well, now look what you've done!

Lost Girl 2 (Amelia):  (very annoyed) Yeah! WE had to come find you guys all the way out here!  

Lost Girl 3(Emma W):   Wait till your Mom and Dad hear about this one!

Lost Boy 1(John S): (very sassy)   OOOOO you're gonna get in TROUBLE

Pakak:  (surprised) Hey, who's side are you on anyway!

Lost Boy 2 (Terrell):  Yeah, us buddies have to stick together!

Lost Boy 3(Ryan L.):  Yeah, one for all and all for one!  Remember?

Lost Boy 1 (JohnS.):  (looks sad)  Oops sorry.  

Galena:  Well, we are glad we found you boys, we better get going, the wind is picking up!

All kids:  (Ad lib) Oh know, here comes the storm,!  Lets go! come on we need to get home.  (all begin to exit and the song begins, then they get stuck in the storm)

Wind blowing, storm growing, it's snowing, blocking our sight.  Wind swirling, Flakes twirling, Ice whirling, dark as the night!

(Everyone is lying down, disorientated, cold and lost, they very slowly sit up, brush themselves off and look around)

Galena:  Oh my goodness, everyone,  I don't think we're in Uelene anymore?

Lost Girl 4( Cadence): (sassy) Well, we are most certainly not in Kansas!
Lost Boy1 (John S.):  (Confused)Wait, what?  

Lost Girls 2 &3:  You know, the Wizard of Oz?...

All boys:  Huh??

All girls: Oh  never mind!

Pakak:  Galena, where are we???  (runs to her and acts frightened)  

Galena:  I have no idea!

Keyush:  I can't even see Polar Mountain from here!

Lost Boy 2( Terrell):  Well, If I squint really hard, I can sorta make it out.....anyone bring binoculars?

Lost Boy 3( Ryan L):  (smacks him on the shoulder)  Now, cut it out, this is serious!

Keyush and Pakak:  Galena?

Galena:  What boys?

Keyush and Pakak:  (look at each other, say in a sad, scared voice)  Are we lost?   

Galena:  (responds by sighing and pulling them close, and looks around)  I think so....

Lost Girl 4 :  Wait, hold on, (pulls out a cell phone and looks at it) My mom gave this to me for emergency's.  Oh Rats!  my battery is dead!

Lost boy1:  Oh yeah, my Dad gave me one too! (excited) I HAVE FULL POWER!  (holds up phone..walks around trying to find a signal...)
Oh man, I can't get a signal out here, (Pause) .....Bummer, we should have got Verizon!

Pakak:  Anybody else have a cell phone...????

All:  (ad lib) NO, I forgot mine... Mine got taken away ...

Lost boy#3:  My parents think I am too young to have a cell phone.

All Boys:  Ooo your Mom and Dad are going to be so mad...

All Girls:  What are we going to do ?  (Sit down and look Sad)

Lost girl 1:  I am getting pretty cold.
Lost girl 2:  And I'm getting really hunger !
Lost boy 2:  I am starving, anyone bring snacks?  (all shake their heads no)
Lost girl 3:  I want to go home.... (starts to cry)
Lost boy 3:   I want my mommy...... (Starts to cry really hard)
Lost girl 4:  Me too!  (joins in on the crying)
Keyush: Galena,  I am scared.
Galena:  Me too.

(Suddenly, there is a loud and sinister laugh, with a lot of reverberation, from out of nowhere.)

All:   (Scream and move like they need to hide, but there's no where to go.)

All boys:  What was that???
All Girls:  We don't know!!!

(Another loud scary laugh is heard)
All:  (Scream again and huddle)

Pakak:  Look over there, I think I see something!

Squash and Squish and Laura:  (All jump out and yell) Boo!!

Kids:  (Scream and run around , then huddle again.... scream  again!)  

Squash, squish and Laura:  Boo!!!  ( and laugh hysterically, not noticing that the boys are running towards them)  

All boys:  ( run over to them and "attack" them, then kick them)  
All Girls: ( Scream)

Squash, squish and Laura:  (starting to cry and whine)  Oh ouch!  Why'd you have to do that?

Squash:  Oh you really hurt me!
Squish:  Whats the matter with you guys??
Laura:  Yeah, you guys are nothing but big bullies
                     ( all three complain by crying and whining)

Galena:  Well, you guys are not so tough! who are you anyway?
Squash:  ( still crying)  Well, I am the big ferocious abominable snow man.
Squish:  ( still whining)  And I am his huge, scary brother!  ( make "scary sound")
Laura:  ( confidently) And I am their mean and nasty sister.  ( she giggles)  
Keyush:  Ferocious, huh!
Pakak:  Well you all are nothing but a big snow cones!

Squash, Squish and Laura:  ( sniffling) We know we are.

Lost girl 1:  Well, your not so scary at all!
Squash:  Yeah, we know.
Laura:   The truth is, we're not mean or scary....
Squish:  We're just FREEZING!

ALL Kids:  (ad lib.  laugh and joke) look at the scary snow man ooo Boo!  

Keyush:  Freezing!?  I never heard of snowmen who were cold!
Paka:  What's the matter with you guys anyway?

Squish:  Well, ( looking a bit ashamed)  we just scare people like you to keep warm.  
Laura and Squash:  Yeah, we just want to be warm!

Galena:  Well, (with disdain)  now I've seen everything (rolling her eyes).  Abominable snow men that are nothing but a Popsicles.

Keyush and Paka:  A frozen parfait! ( giggle)

Squash, Squish and Laura:  A dreamsicle!

All: ( they all laugh) 
lost boy 3:  Well, we are very lost and we need help finding our way back home.
lost girl 3:   Yeah, we are  trying to find her way back to you Uelene, can you help us?

Squash, Squish and Laura: WHOA!  UELENE!!!
Laura:  Why, that on the other side of Polar Mountain!
Squash and Squish:  How did you ever get here?

Lost girl 2;  Well, its kinda a long story...
Lost boy 2:  Yeah, Galena lost Pakak and Keyush at the winter festival
Lost girl 3:  And then the blizzard started, and we got lost....
Lost girl 1; This would have never happened if the boys just listened to Galena in the first place
Lost girl 4:  Yeah, you guys just HAD to go down the biggest hill.
Lost boy1:  Well we Just wanted to have FUN!
( They start to argue and bicker getting louder and louder. )

Galena:  OK enough everyone.  (very forceful and in control)  Please, let me handle this.
 You see we got lost in the blizzard and this is where we ended up.  (a little impatient)  Can you help us or not?

All kids:  (begging) Please help us !

Squash, Squish and Laura:  (Like superhero's) Never fear the Sasquatch Family is here!

All:  SASQUATCH!

Squatch: That's right!  My friends call me Squash! Put 'er there!
Keyush and Paka:  Hi am am ( introduce themselves and eagerly shakes hand)
Galena : (to squash, hesitantly, reaching out to shake hands)  Hi I am Galena.
Squatch:  Oooohh, can I just hold you hand for a while....... It's so nice and warm..

Galena: (pulling her hand away) Now hold on snowman we hardly know a thing about any of you!
Squash:  Well, were really, really, old and have HUGE feet!
Squish:  And we are made completely of ice!
Laura:  But we have very warm Hearts.
                              (all three bat eyes at them and hold their hands to their hearts)

lost boys :  Unbelievable !
lost girls: They are never going to believe this back in Uelene!
Paykak and Keyush:  Yeah, we're seeing it, but not believing it!
Galena:  (rolling her eyes)  Good grief!  Wait till our friends at home get a load of these guys!

(Kids):  When you think you've seen it all, and you back's against the wall, here's a snow man ten feet tall.  Ya gotta get a load o' them!

When your life is looking rough, and you think you've had enough, They're the guys with all the stuff.  Ya gotta get a load o' them!

(squash, squish and Laura- rap style) :  We may look like fluff and gold, just a big, old pile of fur!  We don't even like the cold!  It makes us go B,R,R,R,  Brrrrrrr!

(snowman dance break, snowman family come out and dance)

Keyush:  Ummm, who are all those guys?  (pointing to the snowmen family)

Sasquatch:  Oh, they are just some of our extended family.

Sasquish:  Yeah, they are our cousins! (each one waves) Let me introduce them: over there is Frosty. 

Frosty:  Hi!  I am Frosty, no, not the one you know, but his very distant relative.  I must admit, I am a little jealous of his fame! (getting upset) ya know he....

Sasquish: (cutting him off before he can go on a rant) OK, OK we know, calm down.  And this is Icy.

Icy:  Hi I am Icy, Most of my friends call me Ice for short.  (everyone looks confused and mumbles "Huh"? )  Yeah, doesn't make much sense to me either... (Shakes head in confusion)

Laura:  Yes, over there is Freezy (Freezy is moving all over the place jumping up and down, shivering)

Freezy:  Hi!  I am Freezy, I jump up and down all the time because I am soooo cold!!! I am just trying to stay warm!! Hey, anyone of you have some gloves I can borrow? ( All shake their heads no, Freezy looks disappointed)

Wintry:  Howdy do!  I am Wintry.  I LOVE the cold, and winter.  Wouldn't have it any other way, you just need to be prepared and  dress right.... (puts on a scarf, and looks right at Freezy)

Chilly: (very distinguished like)   Hello, It's a pleasure to meet all of you.  It's been a long time since we've had some dinner, (said like he would attack them, everyone reacts by stepping back and gasps)..ahhh I mean visitors... (looking a little sinister) We are soooo glad that you are here...  (everyone looks afraid, hiding behind one another)

Laura:  Don't worry, they're ok.  None of them would hurt a frozen flea.

Pakak:  Hey, you forgot to introduce that guy over there....(points to a snowman who is trying to hide)

Laura:  Oh yeah,  that is our distant cousin Harry,  He doesn't say much, but he sure can dance!  Watch!

 (dance music starts and Harry starts dancing)  

All:  ( When Harry is done dancing everyone reacts very impressed, and clap....ad lib)  Cool! Wow ! Amazing!  

Pakak and Keyush: .(kinda whiny) Galena..

Galena:  Yes...

Pakak and Keyush:  We are getting really cold!

Lost boy 1:  Me too! I am FREEZING! 

Lost boy 2:  We're never going to get home! (starts to cry )

Lost boy 3:  We're going to be lost out here forever!!!! (starts to cry even harder than Lost boy 2)

All Girls:  Wimps  ( crosses arms and shakes heads)

Lost girl 1:  Oh come on, Don't cry boys!

Lost girl 2: Your tears will freeze to your face !

Lost girl 3&4:  Yeah, and besides....(pauses) ..we' ll start crying too!! (They cry and then Girls 1&2 begin to sniffle, and then start to cry too)

(Squatch and Squish start crying too and very loudly.  Eventually all kids stop crying and just watch them with dismay, Laura is watching, shaking her head in disbelief)

Galena:  (after some time) What are you two crying about?  

Laura:  Yeah, whats the matter with you guys?

Squash:  I just can't stand to see anyone else cry.

Squish:  Yeah, it just gets me right where it counts.  

(Keyush and Pakak hand them a handkerchief and they blow their noses VERY LOUDLY then hands it back to Keyush and Pakak.  They look disgusted ) 

Squash and Squish:  Gee, thanks kids.

Icy:  Oh, don't mind them, they can't help it.

Wintery:  Yeah, we all run a little bit soft...

Frosty:  It runs in the family.

(after a pause, everyone starts crying again)

Chilly:  Wait!  Wait!  Now cut that out and wait a minute, ....(yells, Harry can join in too. )

  STOP CRYING!!!!

(everyone stops with astonishment and stares at Chilly and Harry) you are giving me a headache. 

Freezy:  Chilly is right, we gotta stop crying and pull ourselves together and think! 

Icy:  Yeah, lets stop all this crying and use our brains! That's what my mom would say!

Frosty:  Ok, ok. ( trying to calm down)  Well, what are we going to do? (Still sniffing)

Freezy:  Well, we need a plan...

Frosty:  A very BIG Plan!

Chilly:  Duh!   (looks annoyed, holding his head)  

Wintery:  Anyone have any ideas??

All:  Hmmm......    ( They all start pacing, trying to think)

Frosty: Well, how about we make a fire and send smoke signals??!!!
Chilly:  Duh...again.... we are on the top of a mountain, in the winter.... with no wood or matches!
Wintery:  Besides, we will all probably melt!
Icy:  I know, I know!  We could try singing and hope that someone hears us!

All :  (all glare at him with dismay and shake their heads) Oh brother!

Freezy:  Ok, enough with the jokes.  Does anyone else have any real ideas?

(All start thinking again.  Sasquash, Laura and Sasquish huddle together, as if making a plan)

Sasquash, Sasquish and Laura:   WE GOT IT!!!  (jumping up and down with excitement)

Laura:  Yeah, we got a great plan

Sasquish:  You are going to LOVE this!

All: (annoyed) Well, what is it!?

Sasquash:   We call Aurora, the snow Queen of Polar Mountain!

All Kids:   (puzzled) Aurora!  

Sasquish:  Yes, and her twin sister, Yakone.  Together, they can make magical things happen!  

Galena:  Ok, I say, Lets give them a try.

Pakak and Keyush:  Yeah, what do we have to lose!

Galena: How do we get them here?

Laura:  Simple, we just call for them.

Sasquash, Sasquish and Laura:  (start calling loudly their names in a sing song type voice.)  Aurora,......Yakone...  

(all the kids look at them, then each other, shrug shoulders, then join in the calling using sing-song voices)

Kids:  Aurora,........Yakone......

( There is a rush of wind, several loud gong crashes and a general chaos of sound that ends with the tinkling of wind chimes and Aurora, Yakone and the snow princesses enter)  

Aurora:  You Rang??  

Yakone:  Yeah, this better be urgent, we were in the middle of something VERY important!

Aurora:  Yes, we were getting manicures preparing for tonight's party, and now I've smudged my thumb nail... ugh  (crosses her arms... very annoyed) 

Yakone:  Yeah, I didn't even get to pick my nail color yet!

Laura:  Well, we are sorry to interrupt your VERY IMPORTANT business.... but we have some lost people here! (sarcastically)  And we need your help.

Sasquash:  Yes, these are our new friends, Galena, Keyush, Paka and their friends. (all wave, in disbelief) They are lost.

Sasquish:  They are trying to get back to Uelene, you know, the village on the other side of Polar Mountain.

Aurora and Yakone:  (very sarcastically) Whoa!  Well, Good luck on that one!  (shake their heads and giggling)

Snow princesses:  Yeah, maybe when pigs can fly!  (they laugh loudly)

Sasquash, Sasquish and Laura: But we told them you could help!

Aurora, Yakone and Snow princesses:  (All begin to laugh)  

All kids:  WERE DOOMED!     

Galena, Pakak, Keyush:   If THEY can't help us, its hopeless.

Aurora,Yakone and Snow princesses:  Hopeless!

Aurora:  Whats all this talk about hopeless?

Yakone:  Yeah, WE didn't say it was hopeless!

Suka:  They seemed to be guiding the lost children home.

Father:  Don't worry Anna, I am sure that they will find their way back home soon.

Mother:  Why did we have to go and visit my sick Aunt.... we should have stayed home......

Father: Now, now..... it will be OK.... The police are out searching right now. (he pauses for a moment)  Hey....   (with more excitement) Hey! Look over there, I think I see them!  

(Everyone looks up with anticipation)

Chorus and villagers:  They're Home!

Galena. Paka, Keyush:  Mother!  Father!!!

Lost boys:  Old Yupik, Old Yuaria!

Lost Girls: Yaka, Suka!

All kids:  Everyone ! (Like Ghostbusters movie)We're back!

Mother:  We were so worried about you, we thought we'd never see you again.  

Father:  We are so glad you found your way back home.... What happened!

Galena:  (excitedly)  We got lost because of the Blizzard and then we met the Squash Family!

Paka and Keyush:  and then we met the Snow Queens and Snow Princesses

All kids:  ( start talking at once)  Well.... there was....Oh my gosh... ( ad lib.  very excited to tell story)

Old Yupik:  (interrupting) And, let me guess, they taught you all about courage, hope and believing in yourself.  

All kids:  (very confused) Yes, how did you know?  

Old Yuaria:  Oh, my children, he knows (sarcastically)Everything.

Old Yupik:  Well, not exactly.... but I've been around awhile, and I've heard a lot, but remembered very little.  

Old Yuaria:  When we looked into the dark sky and saw the lights swirling beautifully in our Polar sky, We gained hope and courage and we remembered to have hope.
