"Legend of Polar Mountain"- information

Greetings!!!  Our Show, Legend of Polar Mountain  is quickly approaching!  We will be performing it on February 28th at 6:30 PM at JES!

The students should have all lines memorized by February 10th!

Please start putting your costume together and have it ready to wear before vacation.  

Costume suggestions and items needed:

The goal of the costume should be to give the hint of outdoor Inuit clothing, we don't want everyone in their heaviest jackets.   Here are some options and ideas for you,  remember,  no two costumes have to be the same and you don't need to have everything included on this list. Please don't feel like you have to go out and buy anything, something from your closet will be just fine.  If you need help, please ask~  


All Villagers, Stage crew, Festival scene, Flashlight team & Chorus 
A Colorful scarf, stretch mittens with fingers cut off.  A very lightweight hat. A lightweight vest. 

Pants or skirt that are clean, neat and hole free, preferably earthy colors, browns, tans, beige.  

Inuit top (see below) or a plain, graphic and word free long sleeved shirt in any color

Lightweight hiking boots; Plain dark sneakers or other soft soled shoes, Ugg style boots or "Faux Fur Boots" (see below)

To Make "Faux Fur Boots" 

 Use fake fur (fabric-Joann's) cut a rectangle and wrap it around the bottom of leg, Pin it together and to the pants so it will not fall down while walking and then use something either brown or black rope, shoe string or twine, and tie it around the fur in a criss cross pattern to make it look like an Inuit boot.  

To Make Inuit Costume Top

Girls: Attach fur around the bottom and wrists of a long, long sleeved sweater, longblouse, sweatshirt (zip-up or pull over) or plain top of any color for the Inuit top.  If you  choose to wear a skirt, you could add fur to the bottom of it.  If You don't want to permanently attach the fur you could attach  it with lots of safety pins.  Add decorative trim if you would like  to make your costume more authentic looking.

Boys:   Attach fur to the bottom and wrists of a plain sweat shirt (zip-up or pull-over)  If the sweatshirt has a hood, you could put fur around the hood too. If You don't want to permanently attach the fur you could attach it with lots of safety pins. Add decorative trim if you would like to make your costume more authentic looking.  

I am not a fan of hoods up during the show, 
but they of course, can have hoods on he costume




Snow princess and Snow Queens:   The dress and crown for costume will be provided.  Please find a white Cami to go under dress and a slip.  Find black, white, silver or gold flat, soft soled shoes and white tights.  Do hair up like you are going somewhere special.  If you want to do your own make-up at home, use enough so it will " show up" on stage.  You should "sparkle " on stage.  This picture is an just and idea. of how the make-up could look...make-up does not need to be this dark.  

Father, Lost Boys,  Pakak, Keyush, Yuka, Suka & Old Yupik:  A vest or sweater will be provided. You will need to wear pants that are clean, neat and hole free preferably tan or brown. Colored jeans are ok too.  Plain, graphic and word free long sleeved shirt to go under the vest. Plain dark sneakers or soft soled shoes; Lightweight hiking boots; Ugg style boots or make "Faux Fur Boots"  Accessorize with scarf, hat, and mittens. 
Specific needs: 
 Sam, Bryce W., Isaac & Brian: Beige, Tan, Dark green or Dark blue shirt
 Terence:  Dark  or light Grey or Dark Blue shirt
 John S.:  Light short sleeved t-shirt, blue, white or grey 
 Andrew and Isaiah:  Light short sleeved t-shirt, blue, white or grey

Gaglena & Lost Girls:  A top is provided. Please provide a shirt to go under the top, pants, skirt or leggings with "Faux Fur Boots" ( see above).   "Ugg" style boots are fabulous for this costume too.  Accessorize with colorful scarf, hat, and mittens.

Specific needs: 

Nessy:  Long sleeved white shirt, white leggings, black boots

Emma W.:  Cream leggings or tights.

Emma P.:  Navy Leggings or tights with jean skirt, peasant skirt or pants

Cadence and Amelia:  White or cream shirt for under a sweater, leggings, pants or skirt with tights  

Mother & Old Yuaria:  Costume is provided.  Please provide cream or white Cami or t-shirt for under the top, slip,leggings or tights & boots.    

Specific needs: 

 Emma V.:  Tan, Black or Cream leggings or tights

 Mia:  Cream, Dark brown or Tan leggings or tights 

Sasquatch, Squish, Laura & Sasquatch cousins:

Costume is provided.  Please provide plain white shirt for under costume, 
Plain white sneakers or fuzzy white slippers (shoe style-not sandal style) 
White stretch knit gloves.
